The My Little Pony G3 Collector's Inventory Brings the World of MLP Collecting to a New Generation
(PRWEB) July 13, 2007 -- Since the early 1980's, My Little Pony has been a household name, bringing joy and inspiring imagination for both children and adult collectors alike. As the brand celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year, a new book by Summer Hayes, The My Little Pony G3 Collector's Inventory (ISBN: 9780978606350), provides the missing piece that allows the newest generation of pony fans to continue in the tradition of collecting by providing the first full color illustrated guide book to all ponies, playsets and accessories released since 2003. This new title from Priced Nostalgia Press's Collector's Inventory series provides fans of the toys with simple checklists to keep track of the many accessories and small parts that came with each item and with large full color photos to allow for simple identification and organization. In simple language to accommodate both adult collectors and children who love to play with My Little Pony, this book serves as both an introduction to collecting and a tool for advanced collectors.
My Little Pony, known better as MLP to its devoted fan base, is currently on its third resurgence in popularity. After their defining run in the 1980s and a brief comeback in the late 1990s, Hasbro released its newest MLP toyline in 2003 to the excitement of collectors and delight of their children. This set, known as G3 (for third generation), has not only seen a myriad of new ponies and sets in stores, but the success of these new items has also produced multiple new DVD and television specials, home goods, clothing items and, most recently, MLP's very first stage show, My Little Pony Live!: The World's Biggest Tea Party, likely coming to a town near you.
As the popularity of the toys continues to grow, so does the list of pony and playset names. Parents of junior MLP fans may find themselves faced with bins of accessories with no recollection of what part originally came with what set. Hayes envisions her guide both as an invaluable tool for organizing the MLP items that the reader already has and a means of introducing the world of collecting to a new generation. The guide provides checklists that enables collectors of any experience level to not only keep track of what they have, but also to see what else they might need to track down to complete a set.
"I started collecting the G3 ponies when they first hit stores," says Summer Hayes, who has been a My Little Pony devotee since she received her first MLP, Applejack from G1 (the first generation), on her second birthday. "Soon, there were so many that I was having difficulty keeping track of their names and accessories. I needed a resource that would help me keep my collection organized as well as allow me to quickly identify my ponies. It seemed that other collectors could benefit from a G3 guide as well, so I started to write The My Little Pony G3 Collector's Inventory."
For adult fans or collectors who grew up with My Little Pony in the 80's or 90's, the guide also provides an excellent opportunity for a shared hobby with their children as parent and child alike can work together to build their collections and develop organizational skills.
