Debi Metcalfe's Search to Find Her Horse Inspires Stolen Horse International, a New Shelby-based Organization
Shelby, NC (PRWEB) June 27, 2008 -- Debi Metcalfe has managed to turn a traumatic event into a learning experience that has inspired her and her husband, Harold, to help others in similar situations. When Metcalfe had her horse stolen in 2006, she and her husband used many different methods in order to find her. With this experience under her belt, Metcalfe decided to create Stolen Horse International, an organization that would help people find their lost or stolen horses and, at the same time, spread awareness of horse theft issues.
The story started in 2006, when Metcalfe's horse, Idaho, was stolen. According to the article, Metcalfe and her husband did not know how to go about finding her horse, so they enlisted the help of an investigator. The article also says that the investigator advised them on how to "? blend in at horse sales and had other people put out fliers for them." One of these fliers led to a tip, which helped them to locate Idaho.
The couple also started a Web site, www.netposse.com, where people with missing horses can log on and find information about reported missing horses, theft prevention, disaster prevention, tips on locating a horse and other horse theft topics.
"We do a lot more than stolen horses," said Metcalfe. "That's how we were started, but we do so much more now."
